Wednesday, May 7, the Second Annual Elementary School
Science and Math Olympiad was held at Chattanooga State Community College. Our
students were incredible and brought home 25 ribbons ranging from 1st
place through 10th place in several competitions. Congratulations
to the following students: Lee Schemel, Delaney Swann, Emma Mangan, James West,
James Teal, Willie Chong, Sarah Thomas, Jessica Moore, Maggie Stovall, Rachel
Bird, Madeline Rewcastle, Davis Bostain, Packy Mullin, and Emily Duquaine.
Also, we’d like to give a big “thank you” to all the parents who volunteered
their time to help with this event.
Congratulations to Maddie Siragusa from Tammy Bethune’s
Fourth Grade Class-her essay was selected as a finalist from more that
4,000 essays received by the “First Things First” Father of the Year essay
contest. The winners will be announced at the Father of the Year Award
Ceremony at 10:00 am, Saturday, June 14. Good luck, Maddie!
The 8th grade students participated in the
Scholastic Challenge 2008 which is sponsored through the American Scholastic
Achievement League. This academic competition included 18,000 students in
American schools worldwide. Questions were broken into categories of General
Knowledge, Language and Literature, History/Current Affairs, Geography, Science,
and Logic/Problem Solving/Mathematics. Our school champion is Brennan
O’Boyle! Along with Brennan, the following students scored above the
national average: Sophie Mullin, Brian Delaney, Clay Oliver, Colleen Reuter,
Kate Coleman, Zane Webster, Allie Thaggard, Grace Courter, Sydney Hamon, Austin
Coombes, Marissa Olejniczak, Mandy Suarez, and Patrick Dant. Excellent work,
students!

Thank you

Summer AR testing dates are
as follows: Wednesday from 10:00 to 12:00 and 5:00 to 7:00 in the
computer lab, on the following Wednesdays:: June 11, June 18, June 25, July 9,
July 16, July 23, and July 30.. There will be no AR testing on Wednesday,
July 2 and Wednesday, August 6. Testing will be available during
Registration Day, Thursday, August 7, also in the computer lab.

There is a parent organized bus that runs between
Cleveland, TN and OLPH
currently. Next year, the bus will run to both OLPH and Notre Dame. If you
live in Cleveland or Ooltewah, or you need to get a student from OLPH to Notre
Dame or Notre Dame to OLPH, please contact Mike Boettner at 423-472-5308 or

Rising 9th grade
girls, if you are interested in trying out for Notre Dame’s football

Math Teacher Opening:
OLPH is seeking a math teacher for the
7th and 8th grades for the school year of 2008-2009.
Applicants should be qualified and certified to teach pre-algebra and algebra.
The ability to use and teach the use of graphing calculators is a must.

Music Teacher Opening:
Part time teacher needed to teach
music to K-8 OLPH students for the school year of 2008-2009. This teacher will
