Our Lady of Perpetual Help School is interested in providing more than just the highest standards of teaching. Gifts to the Annual Fund ensure that there are ample resources available to support the academic program, technology initiatives, financial aid for students with demonstrated need, faculty salaries, and the upkeep of the facilities. Independent schools everywhere depend on contributions to the Annual Fund, and Our Lady of Perpetual Help School is no exception.

Ways to give to Our Lady of Perpetual Help School:
1. Respond to the annual appeal each year with a gift to the Annual Fund. This fiscal year is from July 1, 2004 to June 30, 2005.
2. Alumni can consider a leadership gift to the Annual Fund to honor your class, a faculty member, or remember a beloved classmate or faculty member. Alumni gifts pay homage to the school while contributing to the resources necessary to educate today’s young men and women.
3. Provide a leadership gift to fund a Capital effort.
Methods of Giving to Our Lady of Perpetual Help School:
1. Cash Pledge - Pledges may be made to the Annual Fund payable, each year by June 30.
2. Capital pledges may be made over a period of time, usually from two to three years.
3. Securities - The Development Office is happy to provide instructions on how to give securities.
Planned Giving: Planned Giving offers substantial benefits for both the donor and the school. It offers such advantages as the federal income charitable contribution deduction and the avoidance of capital gains taxes. Therefore, it assists donors in making a significant gift through tax and financial benefits. We urge donors to discuss Planned Giving methods with their financial advisor to ascertain how a planned gift may apply to their situation.

WHAT IS ANNUAL GIVING and WHAT IS THE ANNUAL FUND CAMPAIGN?
Annual giving is the financial lifeblood of any school. Simply put, the annual fund is the best way possible for parents, alumni, parents of alumni, faculty & staff, and friends to help make a difference in the future of OUR LADY OF PERPETUAL HELP CATHOLIC SCHOOL. Your investment on an annual basis through a contribution will help raise needed funds for programs, activities and other expenses that the school incurs.
The Annual Fund Campaign is made up of annual gifts from the above mentioned constituents. The unrestricted funds are added to the general fund for use in:

Meeting current operating expense

Maintaining the physical plan

Enhancing the programs and services offered to the students
Traditionally, strong institutions have strong annual funds. Catholic elementary schools should be no different than any other school, college or university. An annual gift is a tangible vote of confidence in the school's total program.
WHY IS THE ANNUAL FUND NECESSARY?
Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic School needs and deserves your support. Our annual giving program is necessary to sustain the life of the school through enriched academic programs, faculty development and enhancements to technology and the overall physical plant. Additionally, this investment provides for many of the wonderful student programs that are the hallmark of the OLPH family.
Tuition and auxiliary income are simply not adequate to cover the operating expenses incurred at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic School. The actual cost of education for each student will be $__________ for the 2003-04 school year. Our tuition stands well below this level.
WHY NOT RAISE TUITION or USE FUNDRAISERS, INSTEAD OF SOLICITING GIFTS?
Although raising tuition would generate a certain level of revenue, we know it will not solve the on-going needs that the school faces as we begin the 21st century. Besides, in order to generate the total support necessary, we would have to assess each family in excess of $________ to cover the overall operating costs. Additionally, most academic and philanthropic institutions rely on an annual giving model to sustain their programs. This affords an opportunity for all constituencies to help support the mission of the school at a level they feel comfortable with through their annual fund gift. We expect different gifts from different people, but gifts from everyone. It also provides a tax deductible charitable gift opportunity for each donor.
The money generated through fundraisers help to support the current operating needs of the school, but they really revolve around items and activities, not the life of the school. We are trying to move away from several fundraisers and focus more on development efforts.
HOW IS THE ANNUAL FUND RUN?
The Annual Fund is part of our Development Program at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic School. Key volunteers coordinate the internal operations of the Campaign by organizing mailings, phonations, special events and communications.
The Annual Fund is run on a fiscal year basis. Solicitations for gifts begin in September and all gifts recorded on or before June 30th are credited for that fiscal year. Opportunities to give are made through mail, phonations and/or personal solicitations.
WHY ARE VOLUNTEERS IMPORTANT TO THE ANNUAL FUND?
The life-blood of any school remains with the level of volunteerism a school can achieve to assist in running programs. Volunteers serve as leaders for the different divisions of the Annual Fund and also serve as class agents, and phonation volunteers. Volunteers are extremely important because they are able to contact different constituencies on a peer-to-peer basis. People are most likely to give if approached by someone who has shared the same experience and with whom they feel kinship.
WHAT ARE MATCHING GIFTS?
Over 500 companies across the country will match their employee's gifts to educational institutions and other non-profits as an employee on a 1:1, 2:1 or 3:1 basis. Donors must go to their Personnel offices to pick up the appropriate form, fill it out and send it to the school with their gift. The school will take care of completing the form and returning it to the company's office to receive the matching funds. Does your company offer matching funds?
IS MY DONATION TAX DEDUCTIBLE?
Absolutely YES! Gifts to the Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic School annual fund are tax deductible to the extent provided by law.
